The following is part of a letter from
Beth Farley, Director of AMS Member Services.
The American Meteorological Society (AMS), founded in 1919,
promotes the development and dissemination of information and
education on the atmospheric and related oceanic and
hydrologic sciences. AMS publishes nine atmospheric and
related oceanic and hydrologic journals, sponsors more than 12
conferences annually, and offers numerous programs and
services. In 2006, over 900 students joined the AMS because
they believed that their annual dues was a smart investment.
So why should YOU join? Here are a few good reasons...
A complimentary subscription to the Bulletin of the AMS (BAMS),
formatted to appeal to a broad readership. BAMS, loaded with
color, contains short peer-reviewed articles, dozens of
noteworthy stories, book reviews, and program announcements,
including a monthly calendar of AMS sponsored events.
Discounted member rate on Weatherwise magazine. Save 20% on a
six-issue subscription to Weatherwise, America's only weather
magazine. Visit
www.weatherwise.org to view the latest table of
contents.
Special Member privileges on our new AMS Online Career Center.
Use our new Career Center to create an online resume, view
available jobs, and manage your career search online. Our
database of resumes lists AMS members first and only AMS
members have exclusive viewing rights to the newest job
postings!
Discounts on all AMS books, journal subscriptions, conference
preprints, and CD-ROMs. Pay the lowest possible price for
scientific and historical monographs, collected works,
conference proceedings, journals and more.
Reduced registration fees for conference and short-course
participation. Accelerate your professional development by
presenting papers and interacting with others in the field at
annual and specialty meetings.
...plus you'll be eligible for undergraduate scholarship and
graduate fellowship awards, student travel grants to AMS
meetings, best paper awards at many conferences, and a reduced
Early Career Dues rate after you graduate. Learn more by
