The Department of Atmospheric Sciences is dedicated to advancing the scientific understanding of the atmosphere and imparting that knowledge to benefit society. Our research efforts serve two purposes
- to expand the frontiers of atmospheric science
- to give students experience and training in conducting research
The department’s faculty, students, and research staff are actively investigating a broad range of problems in the atmospheric sciences, with approaches ranging from field observations and data analysis, to laboratory studies, to mathematical and computer modeling. Some of these projects involve individual faculty members and their students, while others are parts of large national and international collaborations.
